Background
Two oak trees have been identified for removal due to them outgrowing their space. The root systems of the trees are causing issues with critical infrastructure - breaking and blocking sewage and stormwater pipes. The large leaves from these trees are also blocking gutters, downpipes and stormwater traps.
The two oak trees are situated by Kakamutu Road and are on Ōtorohanga District Council land.
The first tree is at the western end of the Ōtorohanga Medical Centre (1) and the other tree is between the Ōtorohanga Girl Guide hall and Ōtorohanga Museum (2).
The picture below shows the two trees circled in blue:
The Ōtorohanga Community Board have requested that a three week public consultation be held so we can ask our communities whether there is any reason the removal of two oak trees should not take place. You can find a copy of the full council report on the right hand side of this page.
We want to hear from you - do you have any comments or information about these two trees that we need to consider before removing them?
Have your say via the submission form at the bottom of this page.
