Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan - Phase two
Consultation has concluded - thank you for your feedback on this stage of the process.
The next stage is to review all your feedback and develop the draft concept plans, which will be shared with the community when they are ready.
It’s time to talk about the future, and what that looks like for our communities.
Ōtorohanga District Council, together with our partners and communities, want to make plans that focus on our people, our places and our partnerships, weaving the threads of resilience, sustainability and transformation, together with our community’s aspirations.
We recently came out to the community and asked you what you think the future of your town or village should look like. Thank you for giving us your feedback.
We have now closed phase two, and we are working through your ideas and suggestions. They will then be turned into projects that may be implemented by the council across your town and village over the next few years.
Your feedback is helping us to develop the Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan which will provide the vision for all of our future planning for this area.
This is your home, and we can’t do this without you, your time and input are important – so thank you.

Projects
You will see there are already a number of markers on the map. These are projects we'd like to get further feedback on. We'll use this feedback to help prioritise these in the next version of the concept plan.
Click on each marker to find out more about each project. To have your say, select the project category and drop a pin on the map near to the project marker you want to comment on.
There are five project categories to choose from:
- Cultural values & identity - Acknowledge the rich history / storytelling, respect culturally significant sites and landscapes and restore our footprint
- Resilient and connected communities - Clear and easy connections to destinations, safety and accessibility, infrastructure is resilient and provides for the needs of the district
- Environmental health and climate change - Protect, celebrate and enhance our natural environment, support ecological areas and biodiversity and address the effects of climate change
- Economic prosperity and growth - Diversity of services for a diverse community, and facilitate and enable commercial development
- Amenities
There is no limit to how many projects you can comment on, all feedback is valuable feedback. However, we'd like to know what your top three are so we can prioritise them.
You can also share your thoughts with us by taking the survey above.
