Ōtorohanga District is growing and our community has told us they want to see more vibrancy and investment, to make the district an even better place to live, work and play.
We need to plan for this growth and invest in the future, ensuring our community has access to good quality facilities and that our public spaces are more attractive and functional.
With the help of our community, the Ōtorohanga District Council has developed and adopted the Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan. This is a blueprint for the future of our coastal areas - you can find this plan under the documents section of this page.
Our concept plan reflects an 18-month journey with our community, stakeholders and partners.
We would like to take the time to thank you for giving us your feedback, whether it has been online or in person - your ideas and suggestions have helped shape a range of projects that may be implemented by the council in your neighbourhood over the next few years.

This feedback is helping to develop the Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan. After two rounds of engagement with the community, we're now entering the final round.
This is your last chance to help shape these plans, tell the council what is most important to you, and what projects the council should be investing in.
Projects have been split into the following 6 themes.
Transport and Accessibility
Amenity and Community Connections
Art, Culture and Heritage
Three Waters
Climate Change and Resilience
Development
We're seeking your thoughts on the project(s) within each theme by asking you to select your top three priorities.
This is your home, and we can’t do this without you, your time and input are important – so thank you.
