Ōtorohanga District is growing and our community has told us they want to see more vibrancy and investment, to make the district an even better place to live, work and play.

We need to plan for this growth and invest in the future, ensuring our community has access to good quality facilities and that our public spaces are more attractive and functional.

With the help of our community, the Ōtorohanga District Council has developed and adopted the Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan. This is a blueprint for the future of our coastal areas - you can find this plan under the documents section of this page.

Our concept plan reflects an 18-month journey with our community, stakeholders and partners.

    Ōtorohanga District Council want you to have your say on the future of your town or village.


    Help us shape the future of our district - it’s time to talk about the future, and what that looks like for our communities.

    This feedback is helping to develop the Kāwhia, Aotea and Ōpārau Concept Plan. After two rounds of engagement with the community, we're now entering the final round. 


    This is your last chance to help shape these plans, tell the council what is most important to you, and what projects the council should be investing in.

    • Amenity and Community Connections 
    • Art, Culture and Heritage   
    • Three Waters
    • Climate Change and Resilience
    • Development
