We’re updating our bylaw – have your say!

We’re reviewing our Structures and Works in Public Places Bylaw, a set of rules that help keep our public spaces safe and accessible during things like building work, maintenance, or when verandahs and balconies are built over footpaths.

This review is part of a regular 10-year check up to make sure our bylaw is still doing its job. We’re not making any big changes, just tidying up the wording, correcting typos (including adding the macron to Ōtorohanga!), and making sure everything lines up with current building regulations.

These updates will help Council continue to manage public safety and minimise disruption when work happens near or over public areas. We’d love to hear what you think before we make any final decisions.

Feedback is open from 30 June to 8 August 2025.
